College of Medicine Holds Scientific Symposium on “Life-Saving Skills in Obstetrics and Gynecology Emergencies”

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Humam Ghanim Ibraahim, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Medicine, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, the University Psychological Counseling Division, the Entrepreneurship Unit, and the Technology Incubator Unit at our college, along with the Studies and Planning Department – Sustainable Development Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, held a scientific symposium titled: “Life-Saving Skills in Obstetrics and Gynecology Emergencies.”
The lecture was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Aseel Basim and Assistant Professor Dr. Ruaa Abdul Jabbar on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in Al-Razi Hall.
The symposium targeted students and graduates of the College of Medicine and covered the following topics:
1- Life-saving and immediate intervention: Providing rapid and effective emergency care for pregnant women and women in critical conditions to reduce mortality.
2- Diagnosis of critical cases: Enabling obstetricians to detect and diagnose emergency cases early and quickly.
3- Management of pregnancy and childbirth complications: Training participants to manage common cases such as postpartum hemorrhage, severe pre-eclampsia, and eclampsia.
4- Handling gynecological emergencies: Managing other gynecological complications such as acute uterine bleeding.
This symposium is part of the Continuing Medical Education program and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4 – Quality Education, Goal 5 – Gender Equality, Goal 8 – Decent Work and Partnerships, and Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities.
