Head and Rapporteur of the Pediatrics Department within the Master Thesis Discussion Committee at the College of Nursing

The Master’s thesis presented by the student Qusay A. Atiyah, entitled “Risk factors for congenital cardiac malformations in children at the Children’s Teaching Hospitals in Mosul” was discussed in the College of Nursing on Monday, 9th November 2020. The discussion committee consisted of Prof Dr Faris B. Al-Sawaf (Chairman), with a membership of Prof Dr Salwa H. Al-Mukhtar (Member), Rapporteur and Head of the Pediatrics Department, Faculty of Medicine, Assistant Prof Dr Ghaith W. Hamdoun (Member), and Assistant Prof Dr Riadh A. Al-Obaidi (Member and Supervisor). The study dealt with the issue of congenital heart anomalies regarding the presence of a problem in the shape of the heart with its functions at birth as it is the most common of all other anomalies. The reason for this is due to genetic factors, environmental catalysts, chromosomal abnormalities, or others. It aimed to assess the risk factors suggesting the occurrence of congenital cardiac malformations in the children’s educational hospitals in the city of Mosul.
