A master’s thesis of the Department of Pathology discussed the application of fluorescent in situ hybridization (VLV) technique in the evaluation of ambiguous cases in the Her2 / neu inheritance of breast cancer, submitted by student Saja Faisal Jaafar on Wednesday January 13th 2021. The aim of the thesis was to detect the frequency of her2 / neu amplification by using fluorescent in situ hybridization (VLH) technique on histochemical ambiguous cases to correlate overexpression and either her2 / neu amplification, with different clinical criteria. It is found that her2 / neu had a statistically significant opposite with the receptors for estrogen and progesterone hormones, while it is not statistically significant with age, stage, and tissue types of the tumour. The discussion committee consisted of Prof Dr Taha H. Taha (Chairman), Assistant Prof Dr Abdul Karim Y. Suleiman (Member), Lecturer Dr Zahra M. Sha’ban (Member), and Assistant Prof Dr Ikhlas A. Ali (Member and Supervisor). After the discussion, the committee’s decision was read included accepting the thesis with the necessary amendments, and granting the student a master’s degree.
