Under the auspices of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof Dr Qusay K. Al-Ahmadi, and in the presence of Prof Dr Mounir Salim Taha, his Scientific Vice-President, representing his Excellency, the Department of Control of the Circulation of Chemical and Biological Materials, in cooperation with the College of Medicine of Mosul, held its fourth scientific symposium on “Mechanism of organic waste disposal” on Wednesday, 10th May 2023, in connection with the Scientific and Literary Forum, attended by a number of members of the University Council.

It started with words from the representative of the President of the University, Prof Dr Mounir Salim Taha, and the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof Dr Basil Mohammednathir Saeed, in which she focused on the circulation of chemical and biological materials and how to get rid of organic waste using modern scientific methods.

The symposium included two scientific sessions, the first of which was the opening lecture by Prof Dr Mounir Salim Taha, Scientific Vice-President of the University entitled “Mechanism of Biological Waste Management Generated by the Education Sector and Universities”. The lectures followed titles, including “the waste management system”, “the use of a microwave oven to treat medical waste”, and “the use of cutting autoclaves to treat medical waste”. While the second session included two lectures on “the mechanism of dealing with organic waste at the university” and another on” modern engineering methods for dealing with waste”.

On the sidelines of the symposium, a specialized exhibition was held on scientific projects on how to get rid of organic waste and preserve the environment.

The symposium aimed to create a healthy environment and spread awareness of the importance of dealing with waste in the university and applying Iraqi quality standards for educational laboratories, adopting modern studies in our university and implementing them to reach the world and complete sustainable development plans.
