Workshop of the Department of Medicine – College of Medicine / University of Mosul*

Under the auspices of the President of Mosul University, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Humam Ghanim Ibraahim Zubair, Dean of the College of Medicine, and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, doctors from Nineveh Health Department, and faculty members of the college, the College of Medicine / Department of Medicine, in collaboration with the Studies and Planning Department – Sustainable Development Unit, held a workshop titled “Updates in Cardiology and Metabolism”.

The workshop was held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 9:00 am in the Scientific and Literary Forum Hall / University of Mosul, as part of the continuing education activities.

This workshop comes within the framework of Mosul University’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:

– Quality Education (Goal 4)
– Good Health and Well-being (Goal 3)
– Partnerships for the Goals (Goal 17)

The workshop was attended by a number of professors and researchers in the field of medicine, and discussed several important topics in the field of cardiology and metabolism.

The workshop included the following sessions:

– Updates in Heart Failure – Prof. Dr. Arwa Mahmoud Al-Sarraf
– Understanding Cardiac Amyloidosis – Prof. Dr. Dhia Abdul-Qader
– New Guidelines for Managing Cardiovascular Diseases and Pregnancy – Assistant Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul-Hadi

*Session 2:*
Chairman: Prof. Dr. Arwa Mahmoud Fawzi Al-Sarraf
– Impact of Diabetes on the Musculoskeletal System – Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Harith Al-Saa’ati
– Insulin Resistance: The Truth – Lect. Dr. Wael Thanoun Younis
– Fatty Liver: The Silent Epidemic – Lect. Dr. Abdullah Zuhair Al-Youzbaki
– Heart and Kidney in Dialogue: The Story of Heart and Kidney – Lect. Dr. Nawaf Yahya Al-Nuaimi

The workshop aimed to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of cardiology and metabolism, and to develop scientific research and education in the field of medicine.

The workshop concluded with important recommendations aimed at promoting scientific research and education in the field of medicine, and developing health services in Iraq.
