Workshop on Accrediting Medical Colleges in Iraq
The Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof Dr Basil Mohammadnathir Saeed, and in the presence of Prof Dr Munir S. Taha, Vice- President of University of Mosul for Scientific Affairs, inaugurated today 10/2-2022 the workshop for the accreditation of medical colleges in Iraq entitled “Towards achieving academic accreditation”Prof Dr Yousra M. Abdullah, Head of the Accreditation Department in the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof Dr Yusra A. Mahmoud, President of the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq, all members of the Council, and professors representing medical colleges in Iraq.The workshop was supervised by Prof Dr Qusay K. Al-Ahmadi, President of the University of Mosul.The opening event of the workshop was also attended by Prof Dr Osama I. Al-Mashhadani, President of Nineveh University and the consultant doctor, Dr Muhammad S. Al-Houry, the chairman of the Nineveh Physicians Syndicate.The participants, representatives of medical colleges in Iraq and members of the accreditation committee of the College of Medicine at University of Mosul, met after the opening with the members of the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges and according to the directions of Prof Dr Yusra A. Mahmoud, head of the council.As the aforementioned members were distributed to small group halls in a programmed manner according to the items of reliability for the purpose of training on the self-assessment program.The participants, representatives of medical colleges, expressed their happiness for providing this opportunity on the grounds of the College of Medicine for training. While the members of the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges expressed their satisfaction with the good organization of the workshop and the accuracy of the work of the scientific and preparatory committees.The officials of the accreditation items in the college cooperated to success this workshop.
