Head of the Department of Pharmacology Chairs a Discussion Committee of a Master’s Thesis in Pharmacology at University of Mosul

A master’s thesis presented by the student Alaa R. Al-Taee was discussed in Pharmacy, University of Mosul on the pharmacological properties of the topical gel emulsion of Minoxidil on Thursday, 27th January 2022. The discussion committee was chaired by the Head of the Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine, Prof Dr Imad A. Thanoun, with the membership of a number of other teaching staff.

The thesis aimed to improve the treatment of hair loss by preparing a gel of minoxidil nanoemulsion (nanoimulgel) with the aim of prolonging the time of contact with the scalp and improving the pharmacodynamic effects.

It was concluded that nanoimulgel is an advanced technology to enhance drug delivery with long contact time and improved membrane penetration and consequent improvement of the dynamic effect of minoxidil.

After the discussion, the committee’s decision was read which included accepting the thesis after making amendments to it, and awarding the student a master’s degree.
