The Governor of Nineveh and the President of Mosul University Visit the Medical Research Centres of Mosul University

The Governor of Nineveh Mr Mansour al-Maraid, and the President of University of Mosul Prof Dr Qusay K. al-Ahmadi toured the medical research centres of University of Mosul on Tuesday, 19th November 2019. They were received by the president and some members of the committee in charge of medical research centers (from the College of Medicine) and Director of the Department of Reconstruction and Projects in the presidency of the university. During the visit, they discussed the most important steps that have been implemented in order to rehabilitate the specialized medical research centers project as it is an integrated hospital equipped with the latest advanced medical devices that treat multiple critical conditions such as digestive problems, urinary tract, kidney and heart diseases, nervous system, infertility, and birthing problems. It was also directed to speed up the pace of work within the specified time to provide medical service to the people of the city and enhance the health status of the province.

In a related context, and based on the above, the committee in charge of medical research centres held under the chairmanship of the head of the Department of Surgery Pro Dr Samir al-Saffar, and the membership of each lesson Dr Omar M. Yahya (from the Department of Biochemistry), Prof Dr Diaa A. Al-Hamdani and Lect. Dr Ziad Tariq and Lect. Dr Alia A. Najm (from the Department of Medicine) held its first meeting in the same building to study how to prepare middle cadres. The mechanism of work according to administrative, financial and scientific contexts and legal frameworks were also discussed. It is worth mentioning that the city of Mosul is still suffering from a large deficit and lack of health institutions because of the loss of most of its hospitals and health centres during the period from 2014 to 2017.
