Providing an appropriate learning environment that allows students and researchers to achieve academic and practical excellence in microbiology, immunology and the preparation of physicians who are familiar with microbiology and immunology. Which achieves the following goals:

The goals of the department

• Enriching students’ knowledge and skills in various aspects of microbiology and immunology.

• Providing distinguished education in microbiology and immunology and training to solve societal challenges in the field of infections caused by various microscopic and parasitic organisms and the field of immunity using advanced methods.

• Contributing to the achievement of the University and College mission to participate in awareness-raising, to enhance society’s understanding of the importance of microbiology and immunology

About the department of microbiology:

The department of microbiology is one of the main departments at Mosul College of Medicine. The department was established three years after the founding of the College of Medicine in 1962. It was initially associated with other departments but it became independent in the academic year 1964/1965, and medical microbiology is taught in its branches, which include (bacteriology, virology, and parasitology, in addition to medical immunology) for third-year students, theoretically and practically. Postgraduate studies (Master’s and PhD) were introduced in the department in 1971-1972.Teaching in this department is carried out by a group of lecturers with higher degrees in microbiology, immunology and parasitology.
