College in Brief
The College of Medicine at the University of Mosul is one of the most prestigious medical colleges in Iraq. Founded on July 14, 1959, it is the second-largest medical college in terms of age and capacity. In its first year, the Ministry of Health administered the college. In 1960, its administration was transferred to the University of Baghdad for seven consecutive years. On April 1, 1967, it became a college of the University of Mosul.
After the ISIS invasion in 2014, most of the college’s faculty and staff left the city. The Ministry of Higher Education established alternative sites for the University of Mosul, including the College of Medicine at the University of Kirkuk and the cities of Zakho and Dohuk. These sites continued to receive students at all levels of the college and provide them with academic and administrative support. Read more
