Mosul Studies Center Participates in a Training Course on Manuscripts at the Central Library – University of Mosul

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and as part of the Mosul Studies Center’s efforts, represented by its Director, Dr. Mohammed Nizar Al-Dabbagh, to encourage faculty members to participate in specialized applied courses that serve their field of work, Dr. Maha Saeed Hameed, a faculty member in the Department of Historical and Social Studies at the Center, participated in the training course entitled: “Maintenance and Restoration of Sources and Manuscripts in University Libraries.” The course was organized by the General Secretariat of the Central Library, represented by its Secretary General for University Libraries, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Jassim Mohammed, and was held from May 17, 2026, to May 19, 2026, with the participation of representatives from various colleges and centers within the University of Mosul.

The course covered various scientific and practical topics, focusing on methods of preserving and restoring manuscripts, ancient documents, and rare books, as well as mechanisms for protecting them from environmental and temporal damage. It also introduced modern methods used in treatment and restoration, aiming to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goals 4 and 9.
