The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. N.) program at the College of Nursing, University of Mosul, is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program delivered in accordance with the Bologna Process and consisting of 240 ECTS credits. The program is designed to provide students with comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge and to develop the professional, clinical, scientific, and communication skills required for contemporary nursing practice.
During the first two years, students acquire fundamental knowledge of the medical and nursing sciences, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, the fundamentals of nursing, health assessment, and nursing ethics. These subjects are delivered through a combination of theoretical instruction, laboratory activities, and clinical training, enabling students to establish a strong foundation for professional nursing practice.
In the third and fourth years, the program focuses on advanced nursing knowledge and clinical practice, including adult, maternal and neonatal, pediatric, community health, mental health and psychiatric, and other specialized nursing areas. Students also develop competencies in health assessment, nursing procedures, patient safety, evidence-based practice, communication, leadership, and nursing management. The program integrates theoretical learning with laboratory and clinical experiences to strengthen students’ ability to apply knowledge in real healthcare settings.
Throughout the program, students are encouraged to develop critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and lifelong learning skills. Students also complete a graduation research project and undertake clinical training in healthcare institutions, enabling them to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience and develop the competencies required for their future professional careers as qualified nurses.

Course Description
1. To prepare graduates who are scientifically and professionally qualified to provide safe, high-quality, and evidence-based nursing care, while adhering to professional ethics and standards of nursing practice.
2. To equip students with the knowledge, clinical competencies, and practical skills required for nursing practice, including patient assessment, nursing care planning, health promotion, disease prevention, and effective communication with patients and healthcare teams.
3. To enable graduates to actively participate in applied nursing research and evidence-based practice aimed at addressing health problems, improving patient outcomes, and contributing to the development of healthcare services and community health.
4. To utilize modern technologies, digital learning resources, and artificial intelligence tools in nursing education and clinical practice to enhance students’ learning, critical thinking, decision-making, and professional competencies.
The program is classified at Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualification Framework (INQF) in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq (MOHESR).
Upon successful completion of all academic and clinical requirements of the Nursing Program, graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Nursing (B.N.) degree by the University of Mosul.
Admission to the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing program is governed by the regulations and admission policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul. Applicants must meet the approved admission criteria and requirements for nursing programs.
To be awarded the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing, students must successfully fulfill all graduation requirements, including:
• Successful completion of all required ECTS credits, including compulsory and elective courses specified in the approved nursing curriculum.
• Achievement of the minimum academic requirements for graduation in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul.
• Successful completion of all required clinical training, laboratory work, practical courses, and other field-based components of the nursing program.
• Demonstration of the required nursing knowledge, clinical competencies, professional skills, and ethical standards necessary for safe and effective nursing practice.
• Compliance with all academic regulations governing assessment, progression, clinical training, and graduation as approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and transfer of academic credits for the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing program are considered in cases of student transfer or course equivalency, in accordance with the regulations, instructions, and academic policies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul. The recognition and transfer of credits are subject to the approval of the relevant academic and administrative authorities and to the equivalency of course content, learning outcomes, and credit requirements.
Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing program, graduates are expected to achieve the following Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), which describe the knowledge, skills, professional competencies, and ethical values required for effective nursing practice:
GO1: Graduates are able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of fundamental nursing concepts, principles, and theories and apply them in nursing practice.
GO2: Graduates are able to assess patients’ health needs, identify actual and potential health problems, and develop appropriate nursing care plans based on scientific evidence.
GO3: Graduates are able to apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, and other basic and clinical sciences in providing safe and effective nursing care.
GO4: Graduates are able to perform essential nursing procedures and clinical skills safely and effectively in accordance with professional standards and patient safety principles.
GO5: Graduates are able to use appropriate communication, health education, and teaching strategies when interacting with patients, families, healthcare teams, and the community.
GO6: Graduates are able to apply critical thinking, clinical reasoning, research skills, and evidence-based practice in solving nursing and professional problems.
GO7: Graduates demonstrate commitment to professional ethics, legal responsibilities, patient rights, confidentiality, and ethical principles in nursing practice.
GO8: Graduates are able to contribute to health promotion, disease prevention, community health, and environmental protection through effective nursing and community-based activities.
GO9: Graduates demonstrate leadership, teamwork, innovation, lifelong learning, and continuous professional development to improve the quality and safety of nursing care.

The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing program employs a variety of assessment methods to evaluate students’ knowledge, clinical skills, competencies, and professional performance throughout the courses. These methods include quizzes, oral and written examinations, reports, assignments, midterm and final examinations, practical examinations, and clinical assessments, depending on the nature and learning outcomes of each course.
To be eligible for the award of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing, students must successfully fulfill all graduation requirements in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the University of Mosul, including:
1. Successful completion of all required ECTS credits and all compulsory and elective courses specified in the approved nursing curriculum.

6. Fulfillment of all academic, clinical, and administrative requirements necessary for the award of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program delivered in accordance with the Bologna Process and the approved academic regulations of the University of Mosul and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The program adopts a student-centered learning approach that integrates theoretical lectures, laboratory work, practical training, clinical practice, research activities, and graduation research.
Teaching and learning activities are designed to develop students’ theoretical knowledge, practical nursing skills, clinical competencies, critical thinking, communication, and professional ethics. Students are assessed throughout the program using a variety of methods, including oral and written examinations, quizzes, assignments, reports, midterm examinations, final examinations, practical assessments, and clinical evaluations, according to the nature and learning outcomes of each course.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing program. The role includes monitoring the implementation and development of the nursing curriculum, ensuring achievement of the Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), coordinating academic and clinical activities among faculty and students, and supervising practical, laboratory, and clinical training.
