College of Political Sciences

Dr. Mohammed Hazim Hamid, a faculty member in our college at the Department of Public Policy, participated in an online seminar organized by the Iraqi Association for Political Science/Nineveh Branch in collaboration with the Al-Mithaq Foundation for Development and Democracy. The seminar was titled “Local Council Elections in Iraq for the year 2023: Opportunities and Challenges.” It took place on Sunday, October 12, 2023. Dr. Hameed presented a research paper titled “The Legitimacy Debate of Provincial Councils in Iraq,” addressing the political legitimacy division into supporting and opposing factions. The discussion highlighted the necessity of electing competent and honest individuals to serve the citizens through these provincial councils, which are a legal and political reality in Iraq.
