Scientific Participation for two of our faculty members
As part of the activities of the Second Food Security Symposium organized by the Northern Technical University on 29-30/1, Assistant Lecturer Najwan Hani Mahmoud and Assistant Lecturer Basma Mohammed Nazir Ahmed presented two research papers. The first paper addressed “Iraqi Economic Security in the Face of the Water Crisis and Desertification Problems: Causes and Solutions.” The second paper focused on the “Challenges of Iraqi Water Security in the Context of Neighboring Countries’ Policies.”
The presentation covered the nature of economic water security and the importance of water resources as a source of regional tension and conflict between upstream and downstream countries. This situation creates political pressure on Iraq, while the scarcity of water supplies and desertification issues pose economic, human, and health threats, endangering food security stability.
