A Master’s thesis at the College of Political Science University of Mosul discussed the trajectory of Saudi diplomatic performance and whether there has been a shift from rigidity to moderation
The thesis, titled *”Smart Power as a Mechanism of Change in International Politics”*, was presented by student Omnia Ibrahim Khalil on Wednesday 4 September 2024.
The thesis aimed to clarify the tools Saudi Arabia uses in managing its smart power to minimize external constraints and enhance the effectiveness of its diplomacy. It emphasized the need to understand how to employ smart power diplomatically, especially towards Iran and Yemen after 2015.
The defense committee consisted of Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Mohammed Tayeb Taher (Chairman), Assistant Professor Dr. Marwan Aouni Kamel (Member), Lecturer Dr. Younis Muaid Younis (Member), and Assistant Professor Dr. Marwan Salem Ali (Member and Supervisor).
The defense was attended by the Scientific Assistant, Lecturer Dr. Khairallah Sabehan Al-Jubouri, along with several faculty members. Following the discussion, the committee announced its decision, which included accepting the thesis with necessary revisions and granting the student a Master’s degree.
