A Master’s Thesis at the College of Political Science University of Mosul Discusses Popular Oversight and Its Role in Rationalizing the Political Behavior of Political Parties
A Master’s thesis at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, discussed the role of popular oversight and its tools in influencing the irrational political behavior of political parties, rationalizing it, and the foundations of popular oversight in the British model. The thesis was presented by student Jihad Fadel Ibrahim on Tuesday 10 September 2024.
The thesis aimed to provide insights, analyses, and information about the role of popular oversight in rationalizing the political behavior of political parties in general and in Britain in particular.
It concluded that popular oversight is a right for all the world’s peoples, and public awareness is one of its pillars for it to have a greater impact and follow the constitutional path of the country. The British model was cited as evidence of this, given its long experience in party work despite the obstacles it has faced.
The discussion committee consisted of Assistant Professor Dr. Yazan Khalouq Mohammed (Chair), Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Yaseen (Member), Assistant Professor Imad Waqaa Ajil (Member), and Assistant Professor Dr. Saadi Ibrahim Hussein (Member and Supervisor).
Also in attendance were Member of Parliament Rahima Hassan Al-Jubouri, the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Mohammed Tayyib Tahir, the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Khairallah Subhan Al-Jubouri, and a group of faculty members.
After the discussion, the committee’s decision was read, which included the acceptance of the thesis with the necessary revisions, and the student was awarded a Master’s degree.
