A Seminar at the College of Political Science University of Mosul on Current Events in Lebanon Concludes with the Need to Present International and Regional Stances on the War and Recommends Iraqi Regional and International Action to Stop It

 The Department of International Relations at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, organized a Seminar on the current events unfolding in Lebanon and their potential repercussions on Sunday 29 September 2024.

 The Seminar discussion addressed the events in Lebanon and Gaza, covering topics from cyber warfare to international responsibility for the Zionist aggression. The discussion also examined the geopolitical implications, causes of the war, as well as its regional and global economic impacts, with a particular focus on the implications for Iraq.

 The Seminar concluded with a recommendation to present international and regional stances on the war, calling for Iraqi, regional, and international action to stop the war in Gaza and southern Lebanon, to limit the conflict’s expansion, and to protect civilians. Furthermore, it urged the provision of humanitarian support to citizens trapped in areas affected by the aggression. The panel emphasized the need for international action to hold the occupying forces accountable for the consequences of their aggression.

Six research papers were presented during the session by the following contributors: Dr. Ali Bashar Bakr, Professor Hazem Hamad Musa, Dr. Rasha Suhail, Assistant Lecturer Basma Mohammed Nadhir, Assistant Lecturer Abdul Kareem Zuhair Atiya, Assistant Lecturer Ziyad Abdulrahman Ali, and Professor Imad Khalil Ibrahim, who also chaired the session. The session’s rapporteur was Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Salah Mahmoud.

 Following the presentations, the floor was opened for questions and contributions from the audience.

 The Seminar was held under the patronage and attendance of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Tareq Mohammed Tayyeb Zahir. The event was attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and a group of students.
