The Department of International Relations at the College of Political Science University of Mosul held its scientific symposium titled “The Development Road in Iraq’s Political Directions: A Vision of Regional and International Dimensions”
On Thursday, 10 October 2024, the symposium discussed Iraq’s strategic vision for the Development Road in light of international and regional changes, the position of the Development Road on the map of regional and international relations, the role of international economic organizations in supporting the development project, the security challenges it faces, and the economic opportunities it presents.
The symposium aimed to highlight the importance of the Development Road for Iraq, its strategic dimensions, and the necessity of providing Iraqi decision-makers with political, economic, and social studies that outline strengths and weaknesses, while also addressing the opportunities and challenges that must be identified.
The symposium concluded that Iraq must adopt a strategic vision for the Development Road project, demonstrating the economic feasibility of participating in it. The goal should be for Iraq to play an active and influential role by leveraging its historical friendship with Turkey, enhancing cooperation with global financial institutions to secure financial support for development projects, signing Iraqi-regional partnership agreements, and investing in Iraq’s strategic location to achieve political influence and support stability.
The event was held under the patronage and presence of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Muhammad Tayyib Zahir, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit. It featured ten research papers presented by the department’s faculty members.
