The Dean of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Attends an Educational Seminar on the Legislative Authority Between Text and Reality Featuring Prof. Dr. Muzahim Qasim Al-Khayyat
On Wednesday, 23 October 2024, the Dean of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul and some members of its council attended an educational seminar titled “The Legislative Authority Between Text and Reality,” organized by the College of Law. The scientific session was chaired by Dr. Wisam Naamat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Associate Professor and Dean of the College of Law, and moderated by Dr. Ali Hussein Yassin, Associate Professor and Head of the Iraqi Political Science Association/Nineveh Branch (also the Administrative Assistant of the College of Political Science). The seminar featured Prof. Dr. Muzahim Qasim Al-Khayyat, Head of the Parliamentary Education Committee.
The seminar aimed to introduce the Emergency Support Law for Food Security and discussed the need to support laws and legislation related to the appointment of top graduates from colleges and institutes, as well as holders of master’s and doctoral degrees. Additionally, it highlighted the role of Parliament in completing and building strategic projects, such as Ibn Sina Hospital in Mosul, several hospitals in districts of Nineveh Governorate, and the ring road. Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of supporting newly established Iraqi universities, which contributes to job creation, among other topics.
The seminar concluded with the need for legal and political science experts to examine these laws and their related issues, so that academics and researchers are fully knowledgeable and aware of the role of these legislations. This, it is hoped, will lead to their practical implementation in the near future, God willing.
