The Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, Resumes the Implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security

The Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, has resumed the implementation of the college’s Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security for the year 2025, starting on Monday, 3 February 2025. Over the course of three days, a workshop titled “The Importance of Political Engagement in Iraq in General” will be held.

On the aforementioned day, two lectures were delivered, discussing the topics “Women in the World of Politics: Genuine Achievement or Symbolic Presence?” and “The Impact of Political Culture on Participation in Political Activities,” presented by Dr. Afraa Riyad Mohammed and Lecturer Hadeel Nawaf, respectively.

The workshop aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by women in the political sphere and explore effective ways to empower women to increase their active participation in decision-making processes. It also seeks to build capacities through the analysis of women’s political experiences in Iraq and around the world, providing a platform for dialogue and the exchange of ideas among academics and students on issues related to women, peace, and security.

The event is held under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, supervised by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Tareq Mohammed Tayeb Dhahir, and in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit.
