A Faculty Member from the International Relations Department at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, Participates in a PhD Dissertation Defense Committee at Al-Nahrain University on the Challenges of Turkey’s Regional Role After 2017

The PhD dissertation of the student Warda Abdulhassan Shafi, titled “Challenges of Turkey’s Regional Role After 2017: The Zionist Entity as a Model,” was defended at the College of Political Science, Al-Nahrain University, on Thursday, 20 February 2025.

The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Osama Murtada Baqir, with the membership of several faculty members, including Professor Dr. Adnan Khalaf Hamid from the International Relations Department at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul.

The dissertation examined the nature of the challenges facing Turkey’s regional role after 2017, focusing on Turkish-Israeli relations as a case study. It also addressed the transformations in Turkey’s foreign policy towards the Zionist entity and their impact on regional power dynamics, in addition to the internal and external factors influencing Turkey’s regional orientations.

After the discussion, the committee’s decision was announced, approving the dissertation and awarding the student a PhD degree.
