The College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Holds a Panel Discussion on the Award-Winning Research from the Baghdad Dialogue Conference on the Utilization of the Securitization Strategy

Under the patronage and presence of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Tareq Mohammed Tayeb Dhahir, the College held a panel discussion on the research that won the award at the Baghdad Dialogue Conference, titled: “Utilizing the Securitization Strategy in the Implementation of the Development Road Project in Iraq.” The research was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Tareq Mohammed Thanon Al-Taie, a faculty member in the Department of International Relations, on Wednesday, 5 March 2025.

The research aimed to shed light on how the concept of securitization is employed in the implementation of the Development Road Project in Iraq, through an analysis of the security, economic, and strategic dimensions of this vital project. It also addressed the role that securitization plays in enhancing the project’s chances of success, its potential challenges, and the political and economic implications that may arise from its adoption by the Iraqi government.

The panel discussion was attended by members of the College Council and faculty members, as well as the Dean and Assistant Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences.

The scientific session was chaired by Lecturer Dr. Firas Mohammed Ahmed, while the opening ceremony was moderated by the Head of the Media and Government Communication Division, Senior Chief Engineer Hasan Younis Abdullah.
