The College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Holds a Seminar on the Transformations of the Syrian Scene and Their Impact

The International Relations Department of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul held a seminar titled “Transformations of the Syrian Scene and Their Impact on National Security” on Tuesday, 18 March 2025.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the recent political and security transformations in the Syrian scene and explore their various effects on the national security of neighboring countries, including Iraq, at both regional and international levels. It also sought to analyze geopolitical changes, foreign interventions, their implications for regional stability, and the extent to which the Syrian conflict has influenced regional balances.
The session was chaired by the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Hazem Hamad Musa, with Assistant Lecturer Nawar Basel Mahfouz as the session’s rapporteur. Four research papers were presented by Assistant Prof. Dr. Tariq Mohammed Tayeb Zahir, Dean of the College, as well as faculty members Assistant Prof. Dr. Saadi Ibrahim Hussein, Lecturer Dr. Firas Mohammed Ahmed, and Lecturer Dr. Ali Bashar Bakr.
The seminar was held under the patronage of the Dean of the College and in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit. It was attended by the scientific and administrative assistants, the Head of the Public Policy Department, and a group of faculty members.
