The College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Holds a Symposium in Collaboration with the Iraqi Association for Political Science / Nineveh Branch on Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism

The Public Policy Department of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul, in cooperation with the Iraqi Association for Political Science / Nineveh Branch, held a scientific symposium titled: “Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism: Risks and Countermeasures” on Tuesday, 25 March 2025.
The symposium discussed the dangers of violent extremism and its negative impact on society, as well as effective mechanisms to combat and limit its spread.
Such academic activities fall within the university and college’s efforts to engage with relevant scientific and professional associations, enhance societal awareness of the dangers of extremism and terrorism (the subject of discussion), and affirm the role of academic institutions in building a conscious society capable of addressing security and intellectual challenges.
The session was chaired by the Administrative Assistant (President of the Association), Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Yassin, with Assistant Professor Mohammed Saleh Shteib as the session’s rapporteur. Seven lectures were presented by Professor Dr. Waleed Salem Mohammed, Head of the Department, along with faculty members (who are also members of the association).
The symposium concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation and a group photo session.
