Participation of a Faculty Member from the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, in the Fourth Arab-Iranian Dialogue Conference with a Research Paper on Iraq’s Position in the Dialogue Context

The Al Jazeera Center for Studies, in collaboration with the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations in Iran, organized the Fourth Arab-Iranian Dialogue Conference under the theme: “Strong Relations and Shared Interests.” The event was held in the Qatari capital, Doha, from 10  to 12 May 2025. It brought together a distinguished group of officials, diplomats, and scholars from both the Arab and Iranian sides.

Among the participants was Dr. Firas Mohammed Ahmed, a lecturer in the Department of International Relations at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul. He contributed a research paper titled “Iraq’s Position in the Context of the Arab-Iranian Dialogue.”

The conference aimed to strengthen the mechanisms of Arab-Iranian dialogue and explore avenues for establishing a sustainable strategic partnership capable of addressing the multifaceted challenges confronting the region. It sought to develop a theoretical and practical framework for enhancing regional cooperation based on mutual understanding and reciprocal trust.

Furthermore, the discussions addressed major challenges destabilizing the Middle East, with a particular focus on the impact of escalation and de-escalation on regional power dynamics.

In response to this significant academic engagement, the Dean of the College commended Dr. Ahmed’s participation, highlighting it as a testament to the distinguished scholarly stature of the college’s faculty in international academic forums. The Dean also reaffirmed the College’s full support for such initiatives, recognizing their vital role in advancing scientific research and fostering intellectual connectivity with think tanks and policymakers across the region and the broader global context.
