A faculty member from the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul participates in a workshop on the importance of literature organized by the Central Library

The Central Library of the University of Mosul organized a workshop titled “Why Do We Read Literature?” on Monday, 16 June 2025. The session featured a lecture delivered by Assistant Lecturer Rowaida Faisal Mohsen from the Department of International Relations, College of Political Science.
The workshop highlighted the essential role of literature—such as novels, poetry, and short stories—in various aspects of our lives. It emphasized literature’s contribution to shaping human character and cultivating a refined cultural and selective taste in reading. Through literature, we explore different eras, places, and cultures, and gain insight into the values, traditions, and meanings that have shaped diverse societies. Literature offers aesthetic enjoyment and provides a comprehensive intellectual and emotional experience.
The workshop was held under the patronage of the University President, with the supervision and attendance of the Secretary-General of the University Libraries, along with the participation of library staff and members of the university community.
