The Dean of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul attends part of a Master’s thesis defense at the College of Law on the right to education and the challenges it faces.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, a Master’s thesis on the right to education under the administrative decentralization system in Iraq, conducted by researcher Rafea Sadiq Yasin and supervised by the university’s Assistant Administrator, Assistant Professor Dr. Rafil Hassan Hamed, was discussed at the College of Law, University of Mosul, on Thursday, 21 August 2025. The Dean of the College of Political Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim Al-Taie, attended part of the discussion.

The thesis reviewed the state of education in Iraq under the administrative decentralization system, highlighting laws that guarantee the right to education, particularly regarding its free and compulsory nature at certain stages. The study also addressed the challenges facing this right, including infrastructure, teaching staff, and the educational environment.

After the discussion, the committee’s decision to accept the thesis and award the researcher a Master’s degree was read.
