The Council of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Holds Its First Meeting for the Academic Year 2025–2026

  • Discussing the strategic plan and forming a specialized committee.

  • Encouraging postgraduate students to publish in international databases.

  • Linking academic theses to the labor market and community service.

  • Urging faculty members to sustain their active community engagement.

  • Aligning the college’s outputs with the Sustainable Development Goals.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals—the Council of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul held its first meeting for the academic year 2025–2026 on Sunday, 31 August 2025.

The council discussed preparations for the second-round examinations for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies for the academic year 2024–2025. It also reviewed the college’s strategic plan and the nature of the committee in charge of it. With regard to postgraduate students, emphasis was placed on encouraging them to publish in Scopus-indexed journals, as well as linking the topics of their theses to labor market needs and the requirements of state institutions in the context of community service.

In terms of media, it was stressed that the college’s official website should be continuously updated through a dedicated committee. Meanwhile, faculty members were urged to sustain their effective societal role by participating in seminars, conferences, and training workshops.

The meeting was chaired by the Dean of the College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jasim Al-Taie, in the presence of the Scientific and Administrative Assistants, Asst. Prof. Dr. Khairallah Sabhan Al-Jubouri and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Yassin. Also present were the Heads of the Departments of International Relations and Public Policy, Prof. Dr. Hazim Hamad Musa and Prof. Dr. Waleed Salem Mohammed, the representative of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate/Nineveh Branch, Prof. Dr. Adnan Khalaf Al-Badrani, as well as the Council’s Rapporteur, Asst. Prof. Dr. Younis Muaid Al-Dabbagh.
