The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, Attends a Ministerial Conference of Editorial Boards of Iraqi Scientific Journals

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals; the First Conference of Editorial Boards of Iraqi Scientific Journals was held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, with wide participation of university presidents, deans of colleges, and editors-in-chief of academic journals, on Wednesday, 10 September 2025.

From the University of Mosul, the conference was attended by the University President, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jasim, some members of the University Council, and several assistant deans for scientific affairs, including the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Political Science, Asst. Prof. Dr. Khairallah Subhan Al-Jubouri.

This conference comes within the framework of the Ministry’s plan to advance the reality of scientific publishing and strengthen the presence of Iraqi journals in global indexing databases, as well as to unify efforts to improve the quality of research in line with international standards.

In his speech, the Minister emphasized the importance of establishing rigorous standards for scientific publishing and providing support to Iraqi journals to reach the level of world-class journals, along with ensuring the necessary electronic infrastructure for their management. Deputy Minister for Scientific Affairs and Research, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahd, also pointed to the pivotal role of scientific research in serving society, affirming the Ministry’s commitment to providing a comprehensive academic environment that ensures the production of high-quality research contributing to addressing national challenges.
