A faculty member from the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul serves as a member of a master’s thesis defense committee at the University of Tikrit on diversity management in Iraq and Canada

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals—a master’s thesis was defended at the College of Political Science, University of Tikrit, by the student Omar Ahmed Hassan, titled: “Diversity Management Policies in Multi-Community States: Iraq and Canada 2014–2024”, on Monday, 8 September 2025.

The defense committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Shatib Aidan, with several other faculty members participating, including Assistant Professor Dr. Ziyad Samir Zaki, faculty member of the Public Policy Department at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul.

The study aimed to clarify the policies adopted in both Iraq and Canada during the period 2014–2024, and their role in promoting the management of societal diversity.

The thesis concluded that Canada is one of the most ethnically, culturally, and religiously diverse countries in the world, and was among the first to officially adopt multiculturalism as a state policy since 1971.

Following the defense, the committee announced its decision to accept the thesis and award the student a master’s degree.
