College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Holds a Four-Day Guidance Course on Persons with Disabilities

In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals — Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions — the University Counseling Division at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, organized a four-day guidance course on persons with disabilities, held from 12 to 15 October 2025.

The course addressed topics such as the ethics of dealing with this group, their legal protection in light of human rights and Iraqi legislation, as well as the main challenges they face and proposed solutions to overcome them. It also discussed the role of international organizations in protecting their rights, their position in society and ways to enhance their inclusion, in addition to social policies aimed at achieving justice and equality for them, and finally, international approaches toward empowering their political participation.

Lectures were delivered alternately by the Head and Rapporteur of the Public Policy Department, Professor Dr. Waleed Salem Mohammed and Assistant Professor Mohammed Saleh Shateeb, along with the Head of the University Counseling Division, Lecturer Dr. Shaimaa Nazem Hammoudi, and Lecturer Dr. Kawther Hassan Ghazi. Participating as well were Assistant Lecturers Wissam Jamal Hussein, Hind Ziad Nafea, Sarah Jasim Mohammed, and Naba Azzedine Mohammed.

The course was held under the supervision of the Dean of the College, in cooperation with both academic departments and the Continuing Education Unit, and was directed toward the college’s faculty members, staff, and students.
