A faculty member from the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul, Lecturer Basma Mohammed Nadhir, delivered a lecture titled “Building Intellectual Immunity” during a workshop organized by the Central Library

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities), the Continuing Education Unit of the Central Library at the University of Mosul held this awareness workshop on Thursday, 30 October 2025. The workshop consisted of a single lecture delivered by Lecturer Basma Mohammed Nadhir, from the Department of International Relations, College of Political Science, entitled: “Building Intellectual Immunity: Analyzing Hate Speech and Deconstructing Its Takfiri and Sectarian Mechanisms.”
The lecture aimed to instill the values of tolerance and critical thinking by outlining the intellectual and methodological approaches to building a resilient mindset capable of confronting extremism and sectarianism. It also emphasized the importance of enlightening thought and reason about the dangers of hate speech and its impact on fragmenting the social fabric in general.
For its part, the College’s administration commended the distinguished efforts of its academic staff in strengthening the university’s knowledge-based role in serving humanity and society as a whole.
