A faculty member from the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul, Lecturer Dr. Firas Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yas, attended the sixth edition of the Security and Peace Forum organized by the American University in Duhok

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals—Goal Seven: Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal Eight: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal Sixteen: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Goal Seventeen: Partnerships for the Goals—and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, and the Department of Studies and Planning at the College, the American University in Duhok held the sixth edition of the Security and Peace Forum for the period 18–19 November 2025.
The forum was attended by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, President of the Supreme Judicial Council Faiq Zaidan, President Masoud Barzani, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, President Nechirvan Barzani, along with a number of political leaders, as well as parliament members, officials, diplomats, experts, academics, and researchers from the Middle East and around the world. From the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul, the forum was attended by Lecturer Dr. Firas Mohammed Elias from the International Relations Department.
The forum addressed issues related to reducing regional tensions, shifts in Middle East security, the future of the economy and energy, risks of military escalation, and mechanisms for building peace and sustainable development, in addition to discussing the challenges facing the international system and opportunities for regional cooperation.
