The College of Political Science at the University of Mosul organized a lecture on women’s rights and political participation, delivered by Ms. Rafi‘a Mohammed Saeed, Director of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Nineveh Governorate Office, with coordination by the College’s Women’s Affairs Committee, represented by Lecturer Dr. Maha Ahmed Ibrahim

  • Raising awareness about the importance of women’s political roles.

    • Discussing the challenges women face in decision-making.

    • Highlighting women’s constitutional and legal rights.

    • Supporting and empowering women through academic institutions.

    • The lecture was organized by the Women’s Affairs Committee in the College.

    • Attended by the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency.

In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, the Women’s Affairs Committee of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit, and the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency, held the lecture titled “Women’s Rights and Political Participation.” The event took place on Thursday, 20 November 2025, and was delivered by Ms. Rafi‘a Mohammed Saeed, Director of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Nineveh Governorate Office, with coordination by Lecturer Dr. Maha Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of the College’s Women’s Affairs Committee.

The lecture aimed to enhance awareness of the importance of women’s roles in political life, and to shed light on their constitutional and legal rights. It also opened the floor to discuss the challenges that hinder women’s participation in decision-making positions, in addition to highlighting the role of academic institutions in supporting, empowering, and building the capacities of women.

The lecture was held under the supervision and presence of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim Al-Tai, along with some members of the College Council. It was also attended by Lecturer Dr. Afraa Riyadh Mohammed, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency, as well as a group of faculty members and staff.
