A Workshop for Postgraduate Students at the University of Mosul on Publishing in Global Indexing Databases

In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure—and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit (at the University Presidency), the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul held a workshop titled “Publishing in Global Indexing Databases.”
The workshop was delivered by Professor Dr. Ziyad Sameer Zaki from the Public Policy Department on Thursday, 20 November 2025.

The workshop discussed the fundamental mechanisms of rigorous academic publishing in global indexing databases and the criteria for selecting peer-reviewed journals. It also addressed how to prepare scientific research according to international standards, as well as the requirements for publishing in international databases.
In addition, the workshop covered the challenges researchers face during the publication process and the ways to overcome them, along with an introduction to research ethics, methods for avoiding plagiarism, and how to work with modern indexing systems.

This workshop is part of a specialized training program for the university’s postgraduate students aimed at developing research capacities and enabling students to produce high-quality theses and dissertations in accordance with global academic standards. The program consists of a series of continuous workshops totaling thirty training hours.
