The Deanship commends the outstanding research efforts
In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, notably Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit (University of Mosul Presidency), the graduation research of student Thamer Suleiman Younis, a graduate of the College of Political Science for the academic year 2024–2025, achieved first place among Iraqi universities in the field of countering violent extremism.
The research, entitled “The Iraqi National Security Strategy in Confronting Extremism and Intellectual and Electronic Terrorism,” was supervised by the two faculty members of the Department of International Relations: Asst. Prof. Dr. Marwan Salem Ali and Asst. Prof. Jasim Mohammed Taha.
In recognition of this achievement, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Iraqi National Security Advisory Office held a special honoring conference on Thursday, 4 December 2025. The ceremony was attended by the Iraqi National Security Advisor, Mr. Qasim Al-Araji, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Research and Development Affairs, Prof. Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi, as well as several college deans and a number of academic and security leaders.
For its part, the Deanship of the College congratulated the researcher and the two supervisors alike on these remarkable scientific efforts, affirming its continued support for research excellence and academic distinction that contribute to serving both humanity and society, promoting intellectual security, moderation values, and national belonging, and strengthening societal awareness to confront all forms of extremism and deviation.
