The College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Holds a Scientific Symposium on the Impact of Climate Change on International Relations

In achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal Thirteen: Climate Action, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning/ Sustainable Development Unit (at the Presidency of the University of Mosul) and the Continuing Education Unit (at the College of Political Science), the Department of International Relations held its scientific symposium titled: “The Impact of Climate Change on International Relations,” on Thursday, 11 December 2025.

The symposium discussed the future of Iraq’s water and food security in light of climate change. It also addressed climate change and its impact on competition among major powers.

The symposium consisted of two lectures delivered alternately by the Head and faculty members of the department, Professor Dr. Hazem Hamad Mousa and Assistant Professor Dr. Younis Moayad Younis. The session was moderated by the department’s lecturer, Dr. Firas Mohammed Elias.

The symposium was held under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, and supervised by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Sohaib Khalid Jassim Al-Tai. It falls within the department’s annual plan for the current academic year 2025–2026.
