College of Political Science, University of Mosul, Hosts an Iraqi Member of Parliament in a Specialized Lecture on the Participation of Mosuli Women in Political Life

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 5: Gender Equality, Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals—and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit (University of Mosul Presidency) and the Continuing Education Unit (College of Political Science), the Women’s Affairs Committee hosted Iraqi Member of Parliament, Assistant Lecturer Sumaya Ghanem Al-Khabouri, who delivered a lecture entitled “The Participation of Mosuli Women in Political Life: A Success Story” on Sunday, 14 December 2025. The session was chaired by the committee head, Assistant Professor Dr. Maha Ahmed Ibrahim.
The lecture addressed the participation of women—particularly Mosuli women—in political life and highlighted the importance of their role in decision-making, discussing the challenges they have faced, the opportunities available to them, and the most prominent achievements realized in the fields of political, social, humanitarian, and relief work, among others. The lecture also shed light on the personal experience of the speaker as an inspiring model for Mosuli and Iraqi women alike. Emphasis was placed on the fact that her presence, along with that of other women, contributes to achieving balance and inclusiveness in the democratic process in modern Iraq.
The lecture was held under the supervision of the College Deanship and was attended by a number of College Council members, as well as faculty members, staff, and students of the college.
