Dean of the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Attends an International Conference Organized by the College of Arts on Human Studies in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

In pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal Four: Quality Education, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit (at the Presidency of the University of Mosul), and under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the supervision and attendance of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, the activities of the Twelfth International Scientific Conference of the College of Arts were launched under the title:
“Humanities and Social Studies in the Age of Artificial Intelligence toward Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals,” held on 17–18 December 2025.
The conference was attended by a number of university and academic leaders. Representing the College of Political Science, the conference was attended by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jasim Al-Ta’i.
The opening ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem and the recitation of Al-Fatiha in honor of the souls of the martyrs, followed by a recitation from the Holy Qur’an. This was followed by a speech delivered by the President of the University of Mosul, in which he welcomed the guests and participants, praising the efforts made to restore the university to its leading position and its well-known distinction. The opening also included a documentary film that chronicled the university’s journey of transformation and recovery after the war, culminating in the achievement of advanced positions in international rankings.
The opening ceremonies featured a high-level panel discussion that brought together the President of the University of Mosul and the President of a Turkish university. The discussion addressed the role of the humanities as a fundamental pillar in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and the importance of scientific research in this field at both the academic and societal levels. In addition, an artistic theatrical performance was presented, portraying the college’s departments and highlighting their practical outputs and their connection to the labor market.
Subsequently, the scientific sessions of the conference commenced through specialized panels in which researchers discussed rigorous scholarly papers aligned with the conference themes and objectives. These papers sought to present innovative scientific approaches to employing artificial intelligence technologies in understanding and analyzing human and social phenomena, thereby enhancing the role of academic research in addressing contemporary challenges and serving society.
