Continuation of the University of Mosul Postgraduate Skills Development Program at the College of Political Science

In pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure—and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning/ Sustainable Development Unit (at the Presidency of the University of Mosul), the Scientific Research Skills Development Program for postgraduate students continues at the College of Political Science.

On Sunday, 28 December 2025, the College hosted a workshop entitled “How Do We Build the Identity of a Scientific Researcher”, delivered by a faculty member of the Department of International Relations and Director of the Regional Studies Center, Assistant Professor Dr. Tareq Mohammed Tayyib Al-Qassar.

The workshop discussed the concept of the scientific researcher’s identity and its importance in building a sound academic career, with a focus on the particularity of the research identity of the University of Mosul as a long-established institution that plays a pivotal role in knowledge production and community service. It addressed the mechanisms for building an effective research identity, including clarity of specialization, adherence to scientific methodology and academic ethics, as well as the importance of scientific publishing and digital identity in strengthening the researcher’s presence and representing the university in local and regional academic circles.

These workshops fall within the university’s training program dedicated to postgraduate students, which aims to develop research capabilities and enable students to prepare rigorous theses and dissertations in accordance with international academic standards, as part of a continuous educational series totaling thirty training hours.
