Distinguished Participation of the Faculty of Political Science, University of Mosul, in the Seminar on the Reality of Sustainable Development in Iraq Organized by the Regional Studies Center

In pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions—and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit (at the Presidency of the University of Mosul), and under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, the Regional Studies Center held its 64th Scientific Seminar entitled: “The Reality of Sustainable Development in Iraq and the Countries of the Regional Neighborhood: Opportunities and Challenges,” on Wednesday, 31 December 2025.
The seminar consisted of two scientific sessions featuring nine research papers, presented by a number of academics and specialists. The Faculty of Political Science played a vital role in the success of the seminar through the participation of two faculty members from the Department of International Relations.
In the first session, Assist. Prof Dr Tareq Mohammed Dhannoon Al Taie presented his research paper entitled:
“Societal Intellectual Approaches and Their Impact on the Future of Fossil Fuels in Iraq: A Study in Analyzing Paragraph (28) of the Outcomes of the Conferences of the Parties.” In the second session, Lecturer Basma Mohammed Nadhir participated with her paper entitled: “Prospects for Regional Cooperation and Integration in Achieving Economic Sustainability in Iraq.”
The seminar discussed the concept of sustainable development, its goals, and its applications in economic and social realities, emphasizing the importance of adopting its objectives within public policies, academic programs, and practical applications. It also highlighted the role of universities and research centers in supporting development pathways and raising societal awareness in this field.
