The Department of International Relations at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, held its scientific symposium on “The Future of Turkish-European Relations” on Thursday, 5 December 2024.
The symposium addressed several key topics, including the dimensions of Turkish-European relations in light of international changes, conflicting Turkish-European-Eastern visions, contentious issues in Turkish-European relations and their future implications. Additionally, discussions covered the future of Turkish-British economic relations, Turkey’s role in the Ukrainian-Russian war and its impact on Turkish-European relations, the debate over ideology versus interest in Turkish strategic thought, and Turkish-European relations between strategic partnership and European disagreements.
The symposium was presented by several distinguished academics, including the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Mohammed Tayeb Thaher, the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Hazem Hamid Musa, Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Mohammed Thanoon, Lecturer Dr. Mohammed Zuhair Abdul Karim, Assistant Lecturer Basma Mohammed Nadhir, Assistant Lecturer Ibrahim Ahmed Hassan, and Assistant Lecturer Abdul Karim Zuhair Atiyah.
The sessions were chaired by Lecturer Dr. Firas Mohammed Ahmed and coordinated by Assistant Lecturer Nawar Basel Mahfoud.
The symposium was held under the auspices of the University President, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit.
