The College of Political Science at the University of Mosul Holds a Guidance Workshop on the Importance of Mental Health and Its Relation to Security

In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being), the College of Political Science at the University of Mosul held its guidance workshop titled “The Importance of Students’ Mental Health and Its Relation to National Security” from 3 – 4 November 2025.

The workshop discussed strategies for strengthening students’ psychological resilience by exploring the relationship between mental health and national belonging. It also aimed to raise awareness of this connection and to shift conceptual thinking from traditional security toward psychological security.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Omar Hashem Thanon (Lecturer), Ms. Elham Saeed Qader (Assistant Lecturer), Dr. Shaimaa Nazem Hammoudi (Lecturer), Mr. Ahmed Faisal Ali (Lecturer), and Ms. Hind Nizar Nafe (Assistant Lecturer).

The event was held under the supervision of the Dean of the College, in cooperation with the University and College Psychological Counseling Units and the two scientific departments, targeting all college staff members.
