A doctoral thesis in the private law branch on ship leasing in private international law / a comparative study,,,
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the Private Law Branch at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a doctoral thesis on ship leasing in private international law / a comparative study, part of which was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College, and a number of members of the College Council and its lecturers.
The thesis submitted by the student Hanaa Muhammad Mahmoud in the private law branch dealt with the importance of the ship leasing contract in the field of maritime transport, as it is the most widely used contract from a scientific point of view, whether in the form of leasing the ship with its hull or for a specific period or on the basis of the voyage, as the ship leasing contract imposes many obligations on its parties, the lessor and the consultant.
The thesis aims to demonstrate the specificity of maritime transport that imposed the expansion of the scope of the content of the chosen law by accepting conditions in the ship leasing contract in which its parties refer to the rules of relevant international treaties to govern their contract.
The discussion committee was headed by Professor Dr. Nizam Jabbar Talib, and included Professor Dr. Zeina Hazem Khalaf, Professor Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Muhammad, Assistant Professor Dr. Murad Saeb Mahmoud, Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Tawfiq Abdullah, and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Badran Shakib Abdul Rahman.
