Master’s Thesis Defense

A Master’s thesis defense was held at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Microbiology, entitled “Diagnosis of Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli Causing Diarrhea in Calves”, presented by Raouf Ronaq Abdulmajeed Al-Ghulami, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Saba Abdulrahim Hussein and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Osama Abdulmajeed, on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

The study aimed to determine the distribution of Shiga toxin genes among Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli strains isolated from bovine fecal samples worldwide through a systematic review and meta-analysis. It also aimed to isolate Escherichia coli from fecal samples collected from calves suffering from diarrhea in Nineveh Governorate, characterize the isolates, and evaluate their antimicrobial susceptibility.

Congratulations to the researcher and his supervisors, as well as to the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Microbiology, on this valuable scientific achievement. We wish the distinguished defense committee every success. This thesis defense contributes to the achievement of the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4): Quality Education.
