A master’s thesis presented by Abdulsalam Mohammed Saleh, titled “Analgesic and Anti-inflammatory Effects of Amitriptyline in Chicks”
On August 20, 2025, the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Mosul, held the defense of a master’s thesis entitled “Analgesic and Anti-inflammatory Effects of Amitriptyline in Chicks” by Abdulsalam Mohammed Saleh (Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology).
The research demonstrated that amitriptyline exhibits analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and hypothermic properties in chicks, with effects lasting up to nine hours. A pronounced synergistic action was also observed when administered with paracetamol or diclofenac, extending analgesic duration beyond individual treatments.
The examination committee consisted of Prof. Yaarub Jaafar Mousa (Chair), Assoc. Prof. Yamama Zuhair Saleh, Assoc. Prof. Maab Azmi Fadhel, and Assoc. Prof. Yasser Mohammed Amin (Supervisor) approved the thesis.
The thesis is representing a significant contribution to veterinary pharmacology and supporting SDG 4: Quality Education.
