From Concrete to Green Cover: Innovative Solutions to Moderate Campus Environments

The Agricultural Committee of the College of Veterinary Medicine, in collaboration with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, organized a workshop titled “From Concrete to Green Cover: Innovative Solutions to Moderate Campus Environments” on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
The workshop was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ihsan Munir Ahmed, and its themes focused on the importance of transforming university campuses into green spaces as environmentally and health-friendly alternatives to concrete expansion. The presentation highlighted how green areas contribute to improving the local climate, moderating temperatures, and reducing heat emissions, as well as promoting psychological comfort and enhancing the learning and academic productivity environment.
This workshop comes as part of a series of activities through which the College seeks to promote the culture of sustainable development and support environmental innovations that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth)—by preparing a conscious university generation that contributes to building a green campus and a sustainable future.
