A Master’s thesis titled “The Effect of Dexamethasone on Estrogen and Prolactin and Their Impact on Ovarian and Mammary Gland Activity in Lactating Rabbits” by the student Manar Masoud Mousa, supervised by Asst. Prof. Ilyas Khidr Hussein and Asst. Lecturer Ghada Abdulrahman Sultan, was defended on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

The study aimed to investigate the effect of dexamethasone on blood levels of estrogen and prolactin, as well as the associated histological and immunohistochemical changes in the ovaries and mammary glands of lactating rabbits. The results demonstrated a negative impact of dexamethasone treatment on estrogen and prolactin concentrations, in addition to inhibition of follicular growth and development, reduced estrogen receptor expression in ovarian tissue, and decreased diameters of secretory vesicles and ducts within and between mammary gland lobules.
After the student confidently and scientifically defended her thesis and responded to the committee’s questions, the thesis was approved.
