A Master’s thesis titled “Immunohistopathological Evaluation of Bone Marrow Transplantation on Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Experimentally Induced in Rats” by the student Rana Nouri Khalaf, supervised by Asst. Prof. Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al‑Saydiya, was defended on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The examination committee consisted of:

  1. Prof. Hanaa Khalil Ismail (College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Mosul) – Chair
  2. Prof. Mohammed Ghassan Saeed (College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Mosul) – Member
  3. Asst. Lecturer Enas Sheet Mustafa (College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Mosul) – Member
  4. Asst. Prof. Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al‑Saydiya (College of Veterinary Medicine – University of Mosul) – Member and Supervisor

Acute Lung Injury (ALI) is one of the major pathological conditions affecting the lungs. In veterinary medicine, ALI is considered a life‑threatening condition characterized by sudden respiratory failure, non‑cardiogenic pulmonary edema, and a severe inflammatory response. Bone marrow transplantation (BMT)—or the use of bone‑marrow‑derived stem cells—plays an important role in reducing inflammation and promoting repair of damaged tissues.

This study was designed to evaluate the impact of bone marrow transplantation in rats with experimentally induced ALI using the cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) method.

Congratulations to the researcher, the supervisor, the College, and the Department of Pathology and Poultry Diseases on this scientific achievement. This defense contributes to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
