The Department of Banking and Financial Sciences – College of Administration and Economics – University of Mosul, in cooperation with the Central Bank of Iraq, held a scientific symposium entitled (Banking services are a tool to enhance financial inclusion)
On Sunday, 5/5/2024 at 10 am in Discussion Hall No. 2, which was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Director General of the Department of Statistics and Research at the Central Bank of Iraq, Prof. Dr. Samir Fakhri Nima Al-Waeli, Mrs. Weam Hazem Mohammed, Technical Assistant to the Director General of the Central Bank of Iraq / Mosul Branch, a number of teachers, affiliates and students of the college, employees of the Central Bank of Iraq and some specialists …
The symposium opened by welcoming all attendees, followed by a speech by Mrs. Weam Hazem Mohammed, Technical Assistant to the Director General of the Central Bank of Iraq / Mosul Branch, and then a speech by Mrs. Head of the Department of Banking and Financial Sciences, Prof. Dr. Rafia Ibrahim Al-Hamdani,It was followed by the start of the work of the first session, which was chaired by Prof. Dr. Saja Fathi Mohamed and Prof. Dr. Laila Abdel Karim Mohamed, rapporteur of the session for the minority, the first research paper entitled “The Role of Monetary Policy in Achieving Economic Stability with a Reference to Financial Inclusion”, which was delivered to the audience by Prof. Dr. Samir Fakhry Nima Al-Waeli,
Then followed by the second joint research paper entitled “The Role of Electronic Payment in Promoting Financial Inclusion”, which was delivered to the audience by Prof. Dr. Rafia Ibrahim Al-Hamdani and Prof. Dr. Zahraa Ahmed Al-Nuaimi,
Then start the work of the second session, which was chaired by Prof. Dr. Namir Al-Sayegh and Dr. Harith Ghazi Al-Dabbagh, rapporteur of the session for the first research paper entitled “Financial Inclusion in Iraq: Reality and the Starting Points of Reform”, which was delivered to the audience by teacher Nawar Kanaan Al-Dabbagh,
Then followed by the second research paper entitled “The Iraqi Bank’s Initiative in Promoting Financial Inclusion”, which was delivered to the audience by Prof. Dr. Saja Fathi Mohamed,
The workshop aimed to shed light on the latest developments in the role of financial education for different segments of society in promoting financial inclusion. And the relative interaction between the citizen and the banking system, as well as the importance of financial inclusion in achieving sustainable development and financing small projects in order to achieve economic stability for the region,
In conclusion, shields were handed over to the officials and representatives of the Central Bank of Iraq and certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participants and researchers.
